Termites are attracted to moisture, so fix any leaking water pipes, drains, showers, and sinks as soon as possible.
If you have a water tank we recommend for the water tank overflow to be plumbed to storm water as excessive moisture promotes termite attack
Most hot water services have a relief valve and normally this drains against the home, we recommend for the hot water service overflow to be plumbed to a drain or away from the home as excessive moisture promotes termite attack

Wood borers (Powder Post Beetles) are tiny beetles whose larvae feed extensively on the wood. The wood worms while emerging make tiny pin size holes on the surface of wooden furniture or fixture. The fine yellowish colored powder (Yellow Dust) starts appearing from these tiny holes. The exit holes are very small, about the size of a pin head. When the wood is tapped with a hammer dust will fall from these exit holes. Depending on the species powder post beetles can infest hardwoods such as cherry and oak, or softwoods such as poplar, pine and bamboo. If you find a beetle infestation in a piece of oak furniture this same species of beetle would not infest your pine floor but might infest other pieces of your oak furniture. Powder post beetles can be serious pests of structures. The larvae of these beetles live in and consume dry, seasoned wood. The most common types of powder post beetles are Anobiid, Lyctid, and Bostrichid beetles. Other wood infesting pests are oldhouse borers and carpenter bees.
